Helibike.com Ltd Launches new Alps to Ocean Cycleway Adventure

Helibike.com Ltd are excited to announce that they are launching an exciting alternative adventure to the planned 3rd day of the Cycleway, the Twizel to Ohau Village leg. The Helibike Adventure uses the existing Grand Greta Helibike trip with additional luggage and bike transport options for those completing the new Alps to Ocean Cycle Trail from Mt Cook to Oamaru.

This trip will give cyclists the opportunity to view the area from a scenic helicopter flight before experiencing some varied yet completely different terrain than they will have experienced on the official Cycleway route. Taking a similar time to the official trail and starting and finishing in the same place as the Cycleway, the Grand Greta Helibike really does offer an alternative experience that will greatly enhance the Alps to Ocean Cycleway experience. Heli-bike Photo wins a place in the 2011 TIANZ Calendar

A huge thank you to all the people who voted for our photo in the recent competition by the Tourism Association New Zealand. For those of you that hadn't heard about it, TIA members were able to send in the best photo that they believed represented 'At play the New Zealand way!'. The TIA picked the top 30, put them on their Facebook page and asked the public to vote. The top 12 pictures, (including ours!) have been selected and will be used in their 2011 calendar.

Our picture is of Matt looking out over Lake Ohau on a lovely autumn day. He'd just cycled up the skifield road with Mark (the rest of us got a lift...) and we were all enjoying a blast back down. The photo was taken by Vernon Reid, who had volunteered to be our driver for the day. Thanks Vernon!
